The original series stars including Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, Donald Faison, Judy Reyes and John C. McGinley are taking part in the reboot, which will return to the lives of the doctors at the Sacred Heart Hospital.

According to Creative B.C., the Emmy Award-winning medical sitcom will be filming in the Vancouver area Oct. 6-Dec. 19.

The series ran from 2001-2008 on NBC before moving to ABC for another two seasons. ABC confirmed the revival in July. Braff, Chalke and Faison each posted the news to their Instagram accounts.

Scrubs landing in Vancouver means Chalke doesn’t have far to go to work as the Ottawa native, who grew up in North Vancouver, calls Vancouver home these days. She shot the hit Netflix series Firefly Lane here from 2019-2022.

The revival showrunners are Tim Hobert and Aseem Batra with Bill Lawrence, who as of late has had success with the Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso and Shrinking, coming back as the show’s producer.

“Scrubs means so very much to me. So excited for the chance to get the band back together,” said Lawrence in a statement back when it was announced that ABC had greenlit the series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter the revival’s summary reads: “JD and Turk scrub in together for the first time in a long time. Medicine has changed, interns have changed, but their bromance has stood the test of time. Characters new and old navigate the waters of Sacred Heart with laughter, heart and some surprises along the way.”

No premiere date has been set for the new series. Exact filming locations for the Scrubs revival have not yet been confirmed, but the show’s production address is listed on the Creative B.C. site as 12211 Horseshoe Way in Richmond, which is the location of Whites Studios Copperwood.

Copperwood Studio is a 106,000-square-foot, full-service facility in Richmond that provides clients with three large sound stages, mill shop and paint shop, plus additional support space.
