My client, Sherry, has been having a hard time styling her hair and she was ready for a different look.

Sherry has fine but dense hair. It was previously highlighted and was in need of a colour refresh. Her struggle was that her hair is flat and shapeless, which was making it hard to style and hold a shape. I started by lightening her colour by placing foils in a starburst placement on the top of her hair. I then touched up the outgrowth with a slightly deeper root colour to create a shadow effect, making her hair appear fuller.

I cleansed her hair with Oribe Bright Blonde for Beautiful Colour Shampoo and Conditioner to help brighten and eliminate brassiness. I then sprayed the mid-lengths and ends with Oribe Run-Through Detangling Primer for added hydration. I eliminated several inches from her length to create a shorter, graduated shape. I felt like the length was overpowering her face shape and that a shorter silhouette would open up her face and better enhance her features.

To soften her hairline and frame her eyes, I gave Sherry a full yet soft fringe to create fullness and balance. I textured the top for added lift and eliminated weight though the back of her hair for added softness.

Before styling I applied Oribe Maximista Thickening Spray throughout her hair and blow dried it using a round brush. To finish her style, I used KMS Hair Play Dry Wax, a lightweight spray wax that offers flexible hold and dimensional texture.

Makeup

Sherry has beautiful hazel-green eyes and to enhance them I used a plum eyeliner, for contrast, and smudged it out using an angled liner brush. I evened out her complexion using lightweight foundation and illuminating primer to give the skin a subtle glow. I brightened under her eyes using a medium-coverage concealer and dusted her face with a hint of bronzer and blush. To finish the look, I applied a rose-pink lip.
