Strathearn Art Walk: Pulling it out rather large this year, this annual hilltop art market with a lovely view of the city is headlined by loyal expat Cadence Weapon Saturday, the passionate and well-dressed pop-folk of The Hearts Sunday, with a whole banana bunch of local notables including Shred Kelly, Billie Zizi, Joe Nolan, Mallory Chipman, Aaron Parker, The Denim Daddies and Sizwe Marimba Band — just to pluck a few.

DJs Suzanne Summers, Effy in the Sky and Amy van Keeken will also be filling in the quiet parts through the three-day event, which doesn’t even get to all the locally-crafted art, food truck fare and beverages, all of which are detailed at strathearnartwalk.com.

Kaleido Family Arts Festival: This mighty packed festival-pileup weekend is also churning down on 118 Avenue as community-minded Kaleido celebrates its 20th anniversary — yay!

With a theme of hearts a-glowin’, a wide array of music, theatre, dance, street performance, visual art, a lantern parade and of course lots to consume are all on the menu, all weekend.

As far as music goes, Friday night up top it’s Funk the Matriarchty, Saturday night Guinea-Quebec’s Cirque Kalabanté Productions, then the 20th anniversary headliner at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon — Captain Tractor, who played the very first festival when the band was a mere decade old.
