1. High and Alive

The four-time Grammy winner is bringing his High and Alive World Tour to the Brandt Centre on Saturday night — one of the biggest concerts to come through Regina in some time.

Limited tickets are still available.

Urban, who’s married to A-list actress Nicole Kidman, is one of the top draws in country music and a renowned musician/entertainer. Hits like Days Go By, Somebody Like You, and Long Hot Summer barely scratch the surface of his award-winning catalogue.

Urban last visited Saskatchewan in 2023 as a headliner at the Country Thunder festival in Craven.

“A party-like atmosphere of song after great song, an inventive unpredictable show, and always world-class musicianship. As an entertainer, Urban knows how to connect with his audiences and take them on an unforgettable ride,” says a Live Nation news release. “Concert goers worldwide have raved about his live shows, calling him one of the best performers of any genre.”

2. Finish it for Terry

The 45th anniversary of the Terry Fox Run arrives Sunday in communities across Canada, including Regina.

The all-ages run takes place in Wascana Park, beginning near the MacKenzie Art Gallery. Registration is at 11 a.m. and the friendly race commences at noon after a brief opening ceremony.

Participants can walk, run, cycle, rollerblade or use a wheelchair on the flexible four-kilometre course. Dogs are also permitted, on a leash.

Money raised goes toward cancer research through the Terry Fox Foundation, which has collected over $950 million to date.

This year’s theme is “Finish it for Terry.” Fox’s health prevented him from completing his cross-country Marathon of Hope in 1980, so Canadians across the nation are coming together this weekend to help complete the journey.

3. Globe turns 60

Globe is celebrating its 60th anniversary with a special weekend-long event that offers a rare glimpse behind the curtain.

The official grand re-opening of Globe’s newly renovated theatre — inside MacCorquodale Place — commences Friday night with a gala event that also features  tours, performances, and more.

Beginning at 6 p.m., registered guests can peruse every floor of the theatre as it “comes alive with music, art, food, and cocktails. Wander at your leisure, discovering live performances, behind-the-scenes workshops, and secret speakeasies.”

The festivities continue Saturday and Sunday with staff-led tours, open rehearsals, architecture tours, theatre school classes, live shows, after-parties and more. Registration for some elements is required.

The show is described as an evening of “laughter, connection, and unapologetically Canadian comedy,” says an online preview.

“At a time when the country needs it most, Mercer is ready to bring Canadians together with his signature wit, political commentary, and unifying voice — making this tour a must-see celebration of Canadian comedy and culture.”

Mercer is set to be joined by “three of Canada’s fastest-rising comedy stars” — Sophie Buddle, Mayce Galoni and Julie Kim.
